Jeongseon Au Project

Jeongseon Au Project
The Jeongseon gold project is a grassroots conceptual exploration project, which KML considers has significant potential to host a major new Carlin-type gold province.
The Cambro-Ordovicean carbonate sequence of the Taebaeksan basin has been the subject of research conducted by Pukyong National University (Busan), KORES and KIGAM since 2004 and is recognized as amenable to Carlin-type gold mineralisation. Recent studies (No et al, 2021) have identified “invisible” gold encapsulated within pyrite and arsenian pyrite, associated with carbonate dissolution breccias (mapped as the Yemi Lime Breccia).

Gold detected within pyrite and hematite in samples collected from the Yemi Breccia (after No et al, 2021).
The images show electrum as inclusions within pyrite (a, b, d), electrum within hematite (c) and electrum as disseminated fine grains (b, e, f). The partial replacement of pyrite by hematite is shown in (f).
Au = electrum, hem = hematite, py = pyrite

Regional stream sediment geochemical studies conducted by KIGAM (2001) and Kim et al (1985) show discrete anomalies of As, Cu, Co, Pb, Zn, Cd, Bi, Sb, Ni and Mg which have not been explained.
KML has applied for Exploration Rights in the Jeongseon area. Reconnaissance geological prospecting shows significant potential for bulk tonnage gold mineralisation. The mineralisation and geology of the Jeongseon gold project is identified as Carlin-type gold mineralization and is considered particularly analogous to the sediment-hosted gold mineralisation found in the Guizhou Province of Southwest China.
